“ The Nines gets a TEN+++! This jazz cabaret/lounge drips class and exudes the intimate appeal of timeless jazz in one of the sexiest settings I've ever experienced! THIS is where you go on any date night particularly a first date or any special occasion to impress and sway to entrancing live performances. You will NOT regret this decision. We were here to celebrate a birthday and the team did not disappoint. Truly Best in Class attention and service. Every detail was perfect. I could not find one detail out of place. Service orchestration was perfection. Cocktails were outstanding! The cocktail nibbles savory and the food and desserts excellent! The room and decor itself is a showstopper. Literally A MUST for every New Yorker and any visitor. In a word...UNFORGETTABLE! ”
“ Had the best night ever, worth every wait time and every penny, heard great things and it is very special ”
“ Visited with loved ones during the holidays and it was everything I anticipated and more. Service was lovely from the beginning when we walked from the doorman to our waitress and some. My party went for after dinner drinks and even though the time was late, we did not feel rushed at all. It was a nice, calm, and quaint ambience that felt luxurious with the red theme. I enjoyed the drinks we ordered and everything tasted perfect. Our server was amazing and found out we were visiting for pleasure and gave us some additional goodies (pens and postcards) which was very kind. She was also very attentive and friendly towards us. I had left my scarf at the restaurant and by the time I realized where I left it; I was already across the country back home. After emailing them about my problem, they worked promptly and very kindly to ship back my scarf with no complaints at all! This is a very graceful establishment and truly highly recommended to anyone visiting NYC!! I definitely look forward to coming back :) ”
“ I came for a late Friday dinner with a couple friends to celebrate a friend's birthday. Although we made a reservation, it still took a decent amount of time for us to get seated (~15 min). We were seated near the pianist, so it's definitely a bit on the louder side - wouldn't recommend this as a spot to catch up with friends but maybe more to enjoy the music (and you can request songs at least the day I was there which I regret not doing). We ordered some drinks - the Nines and Hotel Nacional. I quite liked the Nines - it was fruity and not too sweet, although my friend didn't love the aftertaste. I tried the Hotel Nacional which I had debated getting but glad I didn't since the taste more closely resembled cough syrup in my opinion. The drinks are also very much on the pricier end (think the Nines was ~$26), so not sure if I really think it's worth it. As for food, we just ordered a bunch of plates to share including the tuna tartare, Gnudi, duck pommes frites, and the fries. I didn't have super high expectations for the food but it was actually pretty good albeit small portions. The tuna tartare tastes fresh and has a slight fishy flavor (but in a good way in the sense that the natural flavor feels preserved/not overpowered by the other ingredients). The tuna was served with these small crackers that resemble mini bread slices that were a perfect thickness/crunch to pair with the tuna. I also loved the flavor and crisp of the duck pommes frites but sadly they only come with 3 thick slices of fries, so definitely felt a bit overpriced. The Gnudi was also not bad and were kind of gnocchi-like, so it was more on the heavier side. I personally don't love gnocchi but even I thought it was objectively pretty good and my friends loved it. Lastly, the fries were quite good - skinny and perfectly crisp. Overall, our experience was pretty good - I don't think this would be a regular spot just because of how expensive drinks/food are but would be good for special occasions. My main qualm was the service - it took forever for us to flag our waiter down to order more food and ask for the check even though we'd literally be making direct eye contact with them. Additionally, the restaurant doesn't allow for people to take pictures with flash and if you bring in a cake, they charge extra for if you eat it there - so just a heads up if you plan on having a birthday dinner, etc. here. ”
“ Been dying to come here and it lived up to the hype. Sat at the bar on a Thursday at 5:30pm, had to reserve two weeks in advance (worth it) Manny the bartender was phenomenal - one of the best martinis I've ever had. And the service!!! Refills the garnish!! Delphine was also fantastic and brought me a white Negroni that blew my mind Super intimate, such a romantic spot - highly recommend and will be coming back ”
“ We had reservations for the caviar service and it did not disappoint. Curtis, our waiter was very attentive. We ended up ordering 2 more food items and a few cocktails. Martinis were perfectly crafted and ambiance was fantastic. We love going when we are in NYC. ”
“ Everything we expected. Classic cocktail dinner setting. The music was hard to hear but still added to the ambience. Service was great. Amazing vibes all around. Star was the steak and cocktails. Will definitely be back. ”
“ Fancy, good live music, but indeed pricey. I would come here if you want to go on a really fancy date or on a special occasion. ”
“ We got all dressed up for a night out at The Nines. The best reservation I could get was for 7:30 pm at the bar on the Saturday my friend was in town, and I do think the experience would have been better at a table. That being said, it was still perfect and had exactly the vibe I was looking for: upscale, old school NYC, classy. A great way to impress an out of town guest. Given that there are no prices on the online menu I was worried what it would cost here, but in the end it was a little over $100 for a shared appetizer, a main, a shared dessert, and two cocktails. "Reasonable". The only hiccup in the evening was when we wanted to order dessert and they told us they needed our seats - and there were multiple open bar seats at that point. We expressed our disappointment and they ultimately indulged us, but it did tarnish the evening. A fun spot to "hang out" given the music and vibe, but you aren't really allowed to "hang out " - eat and get out. The food and cocktails were good, but it was really about the experience, which I enjoyed despite the hiccup. ”
